Stage 4 of the BinckBank Tour started and finished in Lanaken and it consisted of several loops in the Limburg region. The 154,2 kilometer course was a bit hillier than the previous days, but was still likely to end in a bunch sprint. The rain and the high tempo in the peloton made the first part of the race really difficult and all early attacks were quickly reeled back in. With 115 kilometers to go, Andre Greipel attacked with Nils Politt, and the two were later joined by Pim Litghart. The trio rode at the front for most of the race, with a maximum lead of two minutes thirty-five seconds. The peloton increased the pace with twenty-five kilometers to go, putting an end to the three-man breakaway. Yves Lampaert tried to launch a late attack with four kilometers to go and he managed to open a decent gap on the peloton, but the Belgian was ultimately caught one hundred meters from the finish line. Edward Theuns sprinted to victory, ahead of Kump and Merlier. Stefan Küng remains on top of the general classification.
