The eleventh Giro stage started in Florence and finished in Bagno di Romagna. Maxime Monfort and Tomasz Marczynski were in the break of the day of 25 riders. On the last climb Marczynski had to let the group go, Monfort followed well. Omar Fraile and Pierre Rolland attacked on the final climb and were the first riders to pass the top, Rui Costa bridged the gap in the descent. Maxime Monfort and the chasing group came really close to the attackers at the finish line. The Belgian finished ninth after a long day in the break and climbs to the seventeenth place on GC. Fraile won the sprint and got the stage win, Costa and Rolland finished second and third.

The first stage of the Tour of Norway was scheduled today, but the peloton didn’t seem too eager to have a hard day. Three escapees got an advantage of maximum eight minutes and the peloton had to chase them all day long. The peloton didn’t panic and closed the gap bit by bit. When the riders started the local laps, at 26.4 kilometres from the finish, the pack was back together. The slightly uphill finish was an opportunity for Tosh Van der Sade and Sander Armée. They proved that with their second and fifth place. Tony Gallopin finished on a nice ninth place. Boasson Hagen beat Tosh Van der Sande in the last metres of the sprint and will start tomorrow’s stage as GC leader
