During stage 3 of the Tour of Guangxi, the riders had to cover four laps on a local circuit, in and around Nanning City, for a total distance of 125.4 kilometres. It didn’t take long before Bico, Haig and Oss went clear and their advantage reached 2’10’’ after only fifteen kilometres of racing. Despite working well together, the three escapees were caught fifty kilometres from the finish. The peloton was then controlled by the sprinters’ teams and cruised at high speed to prevent further attacks, but Craddock and Mohoric still managed to open a gap. Their brave move was left unrewarded as they were reeled in in the last five kilometres. Fernando Gaviria won the sprint for the third day in a row, this time ahead of Max Walscheid and Magnus Sort Nielsen. Moreno Hofland and Tosh Van der Sande respectively finished ninth and fourteenth. Gaviria is now thirteen seconds ahead of Dillier in the overall standings. Tim Wellens is now 25th in GC.
