During races and events Lotto Soudal will spoil its VIPs and guests with wine and bubbles from LePlan-Vermeersch. The vineyard of the family is situated at the bottom of the Mont Ventoux in Suze-la-Rousse in the Rhône valley and is extended over a surface of 24 hectares.
Dirk Vermeersch, director of LePlan-Vermeersch: “In 2000 my wife and I opened a Bed and Breakfast in the south of France. We had bought a ruin which we completely rebuilt as new. I started to cultivate wine as a pastime right next to our B&B. I got into it more and more and the third year my wine was awarded two stars by the Guide Hachette des Vins. Ever since, it kept on growing. In 2009 we sold our B&B and we built a brand new winery of 24 hectares in Suze-La-Rousse. In the meantime my daughter, who went to the viticulture school in the region, and my son-in-law work here too.”
LePlan-Vermeersch yearly produces about 200.000 bottles and exports worldwide. The company is specialized in “monocépage”: wine made from one grape variety.”
Dirk Vermeersch: “Specializing in monocépage distinguishes us from the classical vineyards and has already resulted in beautiful international prizes. We export to among others Canada, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, the US and Central and Northern Europe. Belgium is our biggest market.”
«The last few years we already campaigned through auto racing, a logical choice given my history as a race car driver. However, I am also a passionate cyclist and when we decided to explore other markets, the choice for cycling was obvious. Moreover, we are overlooking the Mont Ventoux here. We immediately hit it off with Lotto Soudal. The team prefers Belgian partners and for us Belgium is very important. The deal was closed rapidly. Through the hospitality of Lotto Soudal, we can enter into new B2B contacts. We will deliver red and white wine as well as our Belgica Bubbles to the team.”
