The Sluitingsprijs Putte-Kapellen, the last Belgian race of the season for Lotto Soudal, took place today. The race consisted of eleven local laps of 16.25 kilometres each. The particularity of the course was that the finish line was situated on the Belgian-Dutch border, which the riders crossed on each lap. The peloton’s relentless pace in the first half of the race made it impossible to go clear. Fourteen riders, including Emiel Planckaert, managed to open a gap on the peloton with 70 kilometres to go. The breakaway was granted a maximum advantage of 2 minutes, but the bunch eventually picked up the pace and caught the escapees three kilometres from the finish line. The race ended in a bunch sprint, in which Arvid de Kleijn proved to be the fastest. Vermeltfoort and Dupont finished second and third respectively. Sean De Bie crossed the line in 22nd place.
