The sixth stage (189 kilometres) of Tour de Pologne, from Wieliczka Salt Mine to Zakopane, took the riders over six climbs of first category. After a nervous start and several attacks three riders managed to escape the pack after more than one hour of racing. Tolhoek, Stachowiak and Moser got up to 5’40” advantage, but they were already caught with thirty kilometres to go. Peter Sagan, owner of the leader’s jersey, lost contact with the GC riders due to the succession of climbs and the pace set my BMC. With nineteen kilometres to go Jack Haig attacked and soloed to victory. Dylan Teuns is the new GC leader with only one stage to go. Tomasz Marczynski and Bart De Clercq arrived 2’26” later at the finish in a second chasing group, as nineteenth and twentieth respectively. Maxime Monfort lost the KOM jersey to Antwan Tolhoek. Jens Debusschere and Jelle Wallays didn’t take the start of today’s stage. They headed to Denmark to participate in the European Championships on Sunday.
