Bjorg Lambrecht as top contender to U23 World Championships
Ambitious to the starting line in Kufstein.
Within four days, Alfdan De Decker managed to get two second place finishes. In the Grand Prix des Hauts de France, he finished just behind Trystan Fivé, in a sprint with a large group. Four days later, he sprinted to a second place in a bunch sprint in the GP Criquielion.
On Thursday, the team participated in the GP des Hauts de France in Douchy-les-Mines. Twelve riders formed the breakaway of the day, just a few kilometres into the race. This front group collaborated nicely and stayed in front of the peloton for the entire day. They were only joined by a group of twenty-some riders, including Alfdan De Decker and Arne Marit. In the final sprint, Trystan Fivé proved to be a little too strong for Alfdan De Decker. Arne Marit finished in sixth place.
In the Grand Prix Criquielion, Alfdan De Decker sprinted towards a second place once more. Lionel Taminiaux was the fastest in a bunch sprint. Lotto Soudal U23 showed its strength throughout the race. Aaron Van Poucke and Ward Jaspers were part of the early breakaway that was caught with 35 kilometres remaining, while Stan Dewulf and Ruben Apers tried their luck in a late breakaway attempt of fourteen riders. They were caught with only two kilometres remaining by the peloton, just in time for a bunch sprint.
On Saturday, no key role for the U23 team in the Ronde van Overijssel. After a fast-paced opening of the race, the team missed the fourteen-man breakaway. Lotto Soudal U23 tried to close the gap with the front group, but did not succeed. In front, Tanfield and Havik jumped away from their co-attackers and sprinted together for the race victory. Havik was closely the fastest. Two minutes behind them, the Lotto Soudal U23 riders finished the race inside the peloton.
