After he was part of the U23 team of Lotto Soudal, Bjorg Lambrecht signed a pro contract with the WorldTour team in 2018. The young Belgian climber already showed his talent by winning the U23 version of Liège-Bastogne-Liège in 2017 and taking second places on the GC of prestigious U23 races such as the Tour de l’Avenir, the Tour de Savoie Mont-Blanc and the Giro della Valle d’Aosta. Apart from strong climbing abilities, Bjorg also has a powerful sprint. He took his first pro victory in the final stage of the Tour des Fjords 2018, a three-day stage race in Norway. He beat Edvald Boasson Hagen and Michael Albasini in an uphill sprint. At the end of his first pro season, he claimed the silver medal at the U23 World Championship in Innsbruck.
