With his transfer to Lotto Belisol in 2014, Sander Armée set the step to the WorldTour level. The Belgian rider often works for the team, but he is also frequently given a free role. Because of his attacking style of racing, Armée won the KOM classification in the Tour de Romandie in 2016 as well as in 2017. He took his most important pro victory so far at the Vuelta a España 2017. Armée was part of a big breakaway during the eighteenth stage to Santo Toribio de Liébana. On the last long climb of the day, Sander shook off his breakaway companions and finished solo, ahead of Alexey Lutsenko and Giovanni Visconti.
