Tiesj turned pro at Lotto Soudal in 2015 and immediately showed his talent to the cycling world by finishing fifth in his first Tour of Flanders. Since that moment, Benoot has not only been fighting for the victory during the Spring Classics, he has also shown his fine climbing abilities, which resulted in a fourth place on the GC of Tirreno-Adriatico 2018. In 2017, he made his début in the Tour de France and finished twentieth overall. During the spring of 2018 Tiesj took his first pro victory in a truly memorable way. He finished solo in a soaking-wet edition of the Strade Bianche, beating among others Romain Bardet, Wout Van Aert and Alejandro Valverde.
