Jelle Vanendert has been a part of Lotto Soudal since 2009 and is specialized in the hilly races. The Belgian got second in the Amstel Gold Race of 2014 and obtained a nice third place in the Flèche Wallonne 2018, where he finished behind Julian Alaphilippe and Alejandro Valverde. In 2011, he definitely experienced the most beautiful moment in his career. During the 14th Tour stage, with a summit finish on Plateau de Beille, he escaped from a group of favourites and rode solo to his first professional victory. He then obtained the polka dot jersey which he had to pass on to Samuel Sánchez only at the very end of the Tour. Jelle took his second victory as a professional cyclist in the Baloise Belgium Tour of 2018 when he finished solo during the hilly fourth stage.
